MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF COiJNCII, <br />, Mayfield Village <br />September 16, 1996 <br />The Council of Mayfield Village met in regular session on Monday, September 16, 1996, at 8:00 <br />p.m. in the Senior Center/Community Room. Council President Mark Fiarler presided. <br />ROLL CALL: Present: Mr. Buckholtz, Mr. Busa, Mrs. Cinco, Mr. Fixler, Mr. Marquardt <br />and Dr. Parker <br />Absent: Mr. Ferrante <br />Also Present: 1Vla,yor Rinker, Mr. Brett, Mr. Cappello, Mr. Diemert, Mr. <br />Hovancsek, Mr. Metzung, Chief Mohr, Mr. Samac, Chief Stevens <br />and Miss Heath <br />OPEN PORTIQN <br />There were no comments. <br />Mayor Rinker said he take this opportunity to swear in Lieutenant David M. Liggett and two new <br />part-time police officers-Edward Smith and Scott Niehus. He asked Chief Stevens for <br />introductory information on each. <br />Chief Stevens said David Liggett started with the Village on May 1", 1973. I3e was assigned to <br />the Detective Bureau in 1981; he served over 15 years as a shift supervisor and was promoted to <br />Sergeant in 1989. Lt. Liggett has an Associates Degree in Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice <br />studies from Lakeland College and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy. Dave plans `SOs <br />Cruise Night and all the special events. He is in charge of scheduling; he commands the patrol <br />division: He recently competed with 3 other Sergeants and was selected by Mayor Rinker to be <br />promoted to the rank of Lieutenant. <br />Mayor Rinker said-there was no hesitation on his part to elect Officer Liggett to take the place of <br />Jack Jay. He is probably the best example of one who leads by example. <br />Mayor Rinker administered the oath of office to David M. Liggett as Police Lieutenant.
