Regular Council Meeting September 16, 1996 2 Chief Stevens introduced Scott Niehus. Scott is presently a shift supervisor and Sergeant with the Geauga County Sherifrs office full-time; a position he-has held for 9 nine years. Offand on he has been assigned to their Detective Bureau and has served some time with their organized Task Force. Chief Stevens said Edward Smith is from Cleveland. His field training officer, Steve LaBuda is in the audience. Ed is a top graduate of the Cleveland Heights Police Academy. He also is a paralegal from Sawyer Business College and works full-time as a Corrections Officer from South Euclid Police Department. Mayor Rinker administered oaths of office to Scott Niehus and Edward Smith as part-time police officers. CO1VIMENTS FROIvI COUNCIL PRESIDENT FIXLER ., : Council President Fixler had no comment. DEPARTIVIENT HEAD REPORTS Engineer - Mr. Cappello said the contractor ha.s begun work on the White Road portion of the North County Trunk Line. Regarding the Hickory Hill Pump Station, they have poured half the apron inside the fence. STANDIIVG CONIlV,Q'I'TEE REPORTS Activities Committee - Mayor Rinker said they are taking a respite from a busy summer. A meeting will be scheduled soon to discuss upcoxning events. Architectural Review Board - Mr. Samac said they met on the 12". They considered requests far a detached garage and a single-family dwelling. Board of Appeals- Mr. Samac said they met August 20. They considered a side yard variance request for a detached garage. The residents have appealed and are before Council tonight. Cemeterv - Dr. Parker said the 2nd annual dedication was held September 2nd. It was a great success. Enclosed in Council's packets is an agenda. He expressed special thanks to Mayor Rinker and Mr. Buckholtz. Citizen's Advisory Board - Mrs. Cinco had no report, She said a meeting has been scheduled for September 30 at 7:30 p.m.
