Regular Council Meeting <br />September 16, 1996 <br />2 <br />Chief Stevens introduced Scott Niehus. Scott is presently a shift supervisor and Sergeant with the <br />Geauga County Sherifrs office full-time; a position he-has held for 9 nine years. Offand on he <br />has been assigned to their Detective Bureau and has served some time with their organized Task <br />Force. <br />Chief Stevens said Edward Smith is from Cleveland. His field training officer, Steve LaBuda is in <br />the audience. Ed is a top graduate of the Cleveland Heights Police Academy. He also is a <br />paralegal from Sawyer Business College and works full-time as a Corrections Officer from South <br />Euclid Police Department. <br />Mayor Rinker administered oaths of office to Scott Niehus and Edward Smith as part-time police <br />officers. <br />CO1VIMENTS FROIvI COUNCIL PRESIDENT FIXLER ., : <br />Council President Fixler had no comment. <br />DEPARTIVIENT HEAD REPORTS <br />Engineer - Mr. Cappello said the contractor ha.s begun work on the White Road portion of the <br />North County Trunk Line. Regarding the Hickory Hill Pump Station, they have poured half the <br />apron inside the fence. <br />STANDIIVG CONIlV,Q'I'TEE REPORTS <br />Activities Committee - Mayor Rinker said they are taking a respite from a busy summer. A <br />meeting will be scheduled soon to discuss upcoxning events. <br />Architectural Review Board - Mr. Samac said they met on the 12". They considered requests far <br />a detached garage and a single-family dwelling. <br />Board of Appeals- Mr. Samac said they met August 20. They considered a side yard variance <br />request for a detached garage. The residents have appealed and are before Council tonight. <br />Cemeterv - Dr. Parker said the 2nd annual dedication was held September 2nd. It was a great <br />success. Enclosed in Council's packets is an agenda. He expressed special thanks to Mayor <br />Rinker and Mr. Buckholtz. <br />Citizen's Advisory Board - Mrs. Cinco had no report, She said a meeting has been scheduled for <br />September 30 at 7:30 p.m.
