Regular Council Meeting
February 15;1999
Page 5
I

Mr. Brett said this is for a change order to the original contract. Rather than restructure a
contract with new legislation, they are treating it as a change order. It will be in the amount of
$526,000 out of an original contract of three million dollars. We are looking at putting in a
separate, temporary access road to the pool back to the parking lot. It was agreed that one of the
reasons we are going with the interior road is to limit the number of access points on S.O.M.
Center Roact. Someone suggested extending the interior road so it comes into the back end of the
parking lot. It was_agreed that would be the best way and decided to get a price on the extension
from the contractor. This will enable us to fully draw down the grant from the Ohio Department
of Development for $600,000. Had the project stayed on its normal course, we probably would
have been able to draw down $450,000. He checked with O.D.O.D. and they regard this as an
extension of the former project.
Mr. Fixler questioned if the extension price per foot is based on the original contract.
Mr. Brett said one of the larger things in this contract is the culvert over the stream which is
about $56,000. Otherwise, it is the same cost per foot as what we are paying for the rest of the
road.
Mayor Rinker said this ha.ppened by looking at the pool, the utilities and coordinating with the
wetland and drainage areas. Mr. Diemert suggested Council make a motion to suspend the rules of Council for the record.

Mrs. Mills, seconded by Mr. Busa, made a motion to suspend the rules of Council.
Roll Call: AYES: All
NAYS: None
Motion Carried
Rules Suspended
Mr. Busa, seconded by Mrs. Mills, made a motion to authorize a change order for the North
Chagrin Commons in an amount not to exceect$526,313.60.
Mr. Fixler asked if this has to be done this evening.
Mr. Brett said we would like to have the road in place by the opening of the pool. In order to do
that, we must start almost last week.
Mr. Samac said there are also some drainage concerns. We need the sewer in as soon as
possible.
Roll Call: AYES: All
1VAYS: None
Motion Earried
Change Order Authorized
A motion to authorize a change order in the amount of $134,700 to Night Vision
