Regular Council Meeting <br />5-17-99 <br />I'age 15 <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br />will take us through the good part of the summer. This is to keep the high standard Mayfield <br />Village has set. Dawn Chem deals with a systematic approach in cleaning the pool. There are <br />certain things they designate be done on a daily basis and certain things on a weekly basis. They <br />will provide our staff with a day-long training. <br />Roll Call: AYES: All <br />NAYS: None <br />Motion Carried <br />Expenditure Authorized <br />A motion to authorize an ezpenditure in the amount of $7,000 to Ohio Pools for the <br />purchase of cleaning equipment and supplies <br />Mr. Fixler, seconded by Mrs. Cinco, made a motion to authorize an expenditure in the amount of <br />$7,000 to Ohio Pools. <br />Council President 1Vlarquardt asked if there was any further discussion. <br />There were no comments. <br />Roll Call: AYES: All <br />NAYS: None <br />Motion Carried <br />Expenditure Authorized <br />A motion to authorize the Mayor and President of Council to enter into a contract with <br />Joan Horowitz to operate the concessions at Parkview Pool for 1999 <br />Council President Marquardt said since there was no motion, we will have informal discussion. <br />Mr. Thomas said Joan is not related to him. She has worked for him the last 3 years at the <br />Cleveland Heights facilities. We have a short time to get our pool up and running and get the <br />start-up equipment we will need. We contacted about 4 other facilities regarding concessions <br />equipment. He is going on liis past experience and his past experience with Joan. He will talk to <br />Mr. Iafelice. He said he strongly recommends we contract with Joan Horowitz for a 2-month <br />period and evaluate that. <br />Council President Marquardt asked if there were any comments from the Finance Committee. <br />Mr. Fixler said the opposition is that there wasn't an opportunity to talk with anyone else so we <br />don't know if this is a good contract or not. Whether it is John Iafelice or someone else, we like <br />to at least see what is out there. Since time is an issue, maybe Council could receive the report <br />by Caucus. <br />Mayor Rinker said we have given Mr. Thomas a ton of assignments to do. His concern is that <br />Mrs. Horowitz is a known commodity. He has worked well with her. When you have a working
