She said everyone had received a memo from Chief Stevens. Mrs. Cinco
asked Chief Stevens if he would like to address Council on this.
Chief Stevens said he would be happy to address any questions Council may have. He
has a chance to buy a 1995 motorcycle for $5,000 less than the purchase price offered for
the 1994 models. He thinks it is a bargain and hopes Council will consider taking
advantage of the offer.
Mrs. Cinco said the motorcycle is a 1995 Harley DavidsonSLHTP motorcycle for $11,500
with an additional cost of $500 for unexpected expense for a total of $12,000. She asked
for a motion to authorize an expenditure of $12,000 for the purchase of one 1995 Harley
Davidson motorcycle.
Mr. Diemert said in light of the fact Council has already adopted legislation, he will be
exercising an option; this is a substitute for it; he will draft legislation to allow for the
purchase without the necessity of bids based on the savings to the taxpayers.
