MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF COUNCIL
Mayfield Village
March 20, 1995
The Council of Mayfield Village met in regular session on Monday, March 20, 1995,
at 8:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers at Village Hall. Council President Mark Fixler
presided.
ROLL CALL: Present: Mr. Basile,.Mr. Buckholtz, Mr. Busa, Mrs. Cinco,
Mr. Ferrante, Mr. Fixler, and Mr. Flynn
Absent: None
Also Present: Mayor Rinker, Mr. Amendola, Mr. Brett, Mr. Cappello,
Mr. Diemert, Chief Mohr, Mr. Samac, Chief Stevens,
and Miss Heath
Laura Lynch - 934 Beech Hill Roadsaid she has come here tonight as a member of
the Mayfield School Levy Committee. She presented a list of names of 66 Mayfield
Village residents who wish to be recognized as supporters of the Mayfield Schools
operating levy coming to the ballot May 2. She plans to come back in two weeks
with an updated list. Mrs. Lynch said it is encouraging, at this early juncture, to see
the kind of the support that this list demonstrates. They feel support is essential in
maintaining the strongly competitive posture of our school system which is a major
draw to our community.
Shellv Kovacevic, Recreation Director, said she is here on behalf of the Recreation
?
Board to request funding for two improvements to Wiley Park. The softball
program continues to grow yearly; they need the improvements to provide players
with a safe and fun program. The first improvement is a new set of bleachers on the
front field. (The existing set is broken and poses a hazard to anyone using it; the cost
is approximately $1,000.) The second improvement is installation of drainage on
the front field. Because of the size of our program, we utilize the fields at all
available times. Any cancellations due to rainfall become a real hassle to
reschedule. When rescheduling is not possible, the program is shortened for our
players. We feel the improvement will allow more playing time and better playing
conditions on the field. The cost of this proposal is approximately $5,000. Mrs.
Kovacevic said we understand that Council will vote tonight to approve the hiring
of a groundskeeper. One of his responsibilities will be the field maintenance at
Wiley. We feel he wili be an asset to our efforts to offer a quality softball program.
Mrs. Kovacevic said we want to thank Council in advance for its support and
dedication to improve the Recreation program.
