Regular Council Meeting
7/20/95
Page 17
Bids for the 1995-96 Senior Snow Removal Program - Mr. Brett explained that two years
ago Council went out for a two-year bid. The contract was changed that if it was under
28 or 30 snowplows that there be a rebate and we would withhold $7.50 per person in
the snow plow program from the vendors. He said it took him 2 hours to sign the
check, so it took Cheryl at least 10 hours. We would like to see one price for the
program in one year.
Council President Fixler asked that the specs be prepared as soon as possible.
Mrs. Cinco explained the Village went for a two-year contract because of Mr.
Amendola's concern that we would not get two bidders for a second year.
Miss Heath asked if they wanted the specifications for two years.
Council President Fixler said yes.
Mr. Basile asked about making the contractors put plow shoes on.
Mayor Rinker said when the program was started, it was stated that the Village would
not get involved in negotiation between the parties. There is not a season that goes by
that we don't have a complaint about something. The bottom line has been attracting a
number of plowers.
Council President Fixler said we will have those specifications set up and go for
advertising.
Council agreed to go with the same specifications and advertise for bids for the 1995-96,
1996-97 seasons.
Office addition for Skoda, Minotti, Reeves & Co. - Mr. Ferrante said Mr. Reeves
presented this to him. They have been good residents and are not looking to ruffle any
feathers. They are asking if there is a way the Village can help them with the extra
$133,000 cost brought about by the drainage culvert preparation, etc. They are asking if
there is anything the Village can do to help them get some of the cost lowered by
providing them with physical help. He explained that the Village has been
maintaining that culvert over the years. Now, since they will have to cover it and put
drainage in there, we are not going to have to maintain that any longer, so they are
asking if there is some way we can help them defer some of the costs in reference to our
not having to pay to have it maintained anymore.
