Historically, in
Mayfield Village, it has been the custom and practice of the Community to be sensitive
to that issue. They concluded that there is enough flexibility in the language now that
? you are not precluding having an architect on the Board--but, theoretically, you could
M be involved in a situation where you could have no architects in the Village and you
M wouldn't want to shortchange yourself.
?
z Charter Review members concurred with Mayor Rinker's comments.
? Mr. Flynn said as it is, he can't vote for it. He suggests that someone have the
authority to call in some kind of architectural firm if there would be some kind of
crisis.
Several people commented the ,Mayor has the authority now, according to Charter.
Mrs. Leppla said she would hate to see losing the residency requirement because you
are not happy with one part of it.
Council President Fixler said the Charter Review Commission is stipulating you must
be a resident of Mayfield Village. We all felt that a fellow Village would take a better
interest than someone who is not a fellow Villager. The point here is that we have not,
in the past, stated you must have "x" number of architects on there. The situation of
hiring an outside firm is always available if that criteria ever comes up where we don't
have an architect to serve on that Board. Mr. Fixler said Mrs. Leppla is exactly right--he
does not think we want to get away from the non-residency issue. Council President
Fixler asked the Commission members present if they are satisfied with the way it is--or
are they amenable to a change.
It was the consensus of inembers present to leave it the way it is.
Mr. Flynn said he agrees they have been working very hard and have asked for input
from Council, but he does not think it precludes, on this particular evening, any valid
comments on any of these subjects.
Council President Fixler said we held a special Workshop and the attendance was low.
(Only three members of Council attended.) If he had it to do again, he would call an
actual formal Council Meeting to review the items again. Council president Fixler said
at this point, let's go forward and we will take it from there.
