Regular Council Meeting <br />January 19, 1998 <br />Page 7 <br /> <br /> <br />J <br />Since Mayfield V311age complies with Fair Housing laws, he does not see any harm in <br />enacting legislation. <br />Mrs. Mills thinks legislation is necessary to affirm that we are adhering to the law. <br />A brief discussion was held. <br />Council President Fixler said when legislation comes forward, everyone will have an <br />opportunity to discuss it further and vote on it. <br />Voice Mail Proposals - M[ayor Rinker said he thinks it will improve our ability to <br />communicate wi#h one anofher and residents. V11e might want to formulate a policy <br />guide for residents. <br />Chief Mohr said we received two bids; the third vendor chose not to bid. The <br />equipment is compatible with our current phone system. It is a 6-pod system which is <br />expandable to a 12-pod systern. The one-time cost will include labor, set-up and <br />training. According to 'the vendors, this voice mail system will be compatible with a <br />new system. <br />Mr. Marquardt said the Finance Committee recommends going ahead with the voice <br />mail system but holding off on the digital phone system at this time. Prices are coming <br />down. <br />CYuef Mohr said we have 2 lines that go to the Sexvice Department; one extension and <br />one phone line. When we upgrade the phone system we may want to think about <br />upgrading the cabling. <br />Mr. Busa, seconded by Mr. Buckholtz, made a motion to authorize an expend'ature in <br />the amount of $5,500 to Phase 3 Communications for a voice mail system. <br />Roll-Call: AYES: All <br />NAYS: None <br />Motion Carried <br />Expenditure Authorized <br />Appreciation Dinner - not "to exceed $4;000 to Norrxtandy Catering, Inc. <br />Mrs. Cinco, seconded by Mr. Buckholtz, made a motion to authorize an expenditure not <br />to exceed $4,000 to Normandy Catering, Inc.
