Special Council Meeting
3-9-98
Page 11
Mr. Buckholtz said his choice would be to leave the agreement as it is with the Mayfield Village
employees only but also add in that in 24 months, after we have seen it work for a while, we
could craft another agreement.
Discussion was held.
Mr. Marquardt said he suggests leaving it Mayfield Village [for those employees] and if we want
more, a bigger pool can be built.
Mrs. Mills said she does not like the 5-mile radius. When the High School facility was built, we
fought hard to get our employees special passes. We must formulate some type of plan and she
does not know how we will do that unless we sit down and talk to them.
Council President Fixler suggested leaving it the way it is and see what the usage is. If the usage
isn't that high, we can always go back and say we can put more people in it.
Mayor Rinker said this is almost like 15,000 square feet versus 20,000. He likes the idea of
saying it stays at this, however, there is a commitment to revisit the issue 24 months out. You are
not committing to anything more than that.
Mr. Marquardt said he does not think it is realistic to add on to a pool.
Mayor Rinker said we could stick with this and there are 2 options that may come into play:
1) after we get further into this and have better statistical understanding, we could come back
and say now we could do plan (a) or (b). If it is plan (b) the bigger one, that is based on what
we project overall usage would be and then we could work out a deal that will require more
money.
2) If they don't like tha.t, we will go with plan (a) and everything stays status quo. He said the
opportunity is written in to say we can consider at a later date the overall size and whether or
not we want to expand their participation.
Mr. Marquardt said we must come to that agreement before we make an agreement. This way, at
least some planning is done up front.
Council President Fixler said you know what you have to do. We need a motion to adjourn.
Mrs. Cinco, seconded by Mrs. Mills, made a motion to adjourn.
Roll Call: AYES: All
NAYS: None Motion Carried

Tlie meeting adjourned at 9:34 p.m.
