MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF COUNCII, <br />Mayfield Village <br />May 4, 1998 <br />The Councii of Ma.yfield Village met in special session on 1Vlonday, May 4, 1998, at 8:00 p.m. in <br />the Mayfield Village Senior Center/Community Room Council President Mark Fixler presided. <br />ROLL CALL: Present: Mrs. Cinco, Mr. Fixler, Mr. Marquardt, Mrs. Milis and Dr. Parker <br />Absent: Ivlr. Buckholtz and 1Vir. Busa. <br />Also Present: Mayor Rinker, Mr. Brett, Mr. Cappello, Mr. T3iemert, <br />1VTr. Hovancsek, Lt. Porter, Mr. Metzung, Mr. Samac, <br />Chief Stevens and Mrs. Roman <br />Councii President Fixler said the first item of business is discussion of the bids received for the <br />access road for the North Chagrin Commons. <br />Access Road for North Chagrin Commons <br />Mr. Hovancsek said he has reviewed the bids and they appeaz to be good, competitive bids. <br />There may be changes to be made since the project was fast-tracked. <br />Mr. Brett said there were a couple of things that must be talcen up with Perk Company: They <br />were a bit concerned on the bid for the sanitary sewer line. They will secure a letter from Perk <br />acknowledgi.ng the fact there is rock and they know there is rock and there will be complications <br />and additional expenses because there is rack. (There are details in the correspondence he gave <br />Council.) <br />Mr. Cappello said the contractor has a disclaimer at the end of their subcontract clause that says <br />this does not include rock. Mr. Burgess of URS Greiner will negotiate with #hem to clarify this is <br />the number they will do the job for because they will not get any extra amount [rock or not.l <br />Mr. Brett said legislation will be forthcoming (at the Regular Council Meeting in 2 weeks.) He <br />is just looking for approval tonight to go with the recommenda.tions from I7RS. It we do not <br />receive a letter from Perk Company [re no extra expenditure for rockl, we will not proceed with <br />them. We will go with the second lowest bidder and so on down the line. <br />Mr. CappeHo said URS will be negotiating other items with Perk also. <br />Mayor Rinker asked, for the record, why going on the fast track is so critical; what are we <br />gaining? Do we anticipate we will come out ahead in terms of overall cost. <br />Mr. Cappello said to get construction underway. We are talking about getting Progressive water <br />by August 1 St
