Regular Council Meeting
5-18-98
Page 8
OPEN PORTION - 3 minute limit imposed by Chair. Those who wish to speak must first state
their name and address. This open portion is limited to discussion pertaining to the items under
"New Business" only.
There were no comments:
ANY OTHER MATTER THAT MAY COME BEFORE COUNCIL
Mrs. Mills said she has been discussing the problem at the plaza beside Sandalwood with Mr.
Samac. It seems to be an ongoing problem. There is a similar problem with the Paris building at
S.O.M. and Beta. We do not know how to train people to close dumpsters. She asked if they are
in violation of any ordinances.
Mr. Samac it depends on which time of day you go there. He will make an effort to keep an eye
on it for the next few months. Revco and other businesses have added rubbish cans inside their
buildings which has helped somewhat.
Dr. Parker said he attended the Board of Appeals meeting where the owner said he was going to
make sure there was no garbage flying around. We should let the owner know there is still a
problem. If it continues, we may have to fine them or something. He does not think the Village
should take the position that there is nothing we can do.
Mrs. Mills said Mr. Samac has a procedure and it could end up as a court procedure. She asked
that the minutes reflect that the next day after she talked to Dr. Knapp she talked to Mr. Samac
about it. There were other complaints which she brought up also--one was regarding the speed
limit signs.
Mr. Samac said he will be happy to sit down with the owners again.
CLOSING CONIMENTS
Mrs. Mills thanked the Service Department for their help during the Pancake Breakfast.
Mrs. Mills reported the 9th graders will be working at the Cemetery and the Historical House this
Wednesday.
Mr. Hovancsek said he spoke with Mayor Rinker and Mr. Brett about going out for bids for
rubbish so our completion date will be the same as Highland Heights. We have discussed going
out for bids with HigWaild Heights and other communities for rubbish. It appears there would be
a savings for both communities. Mr. Buckholtz suggested Mr. Hovancsek talk to Pat Holland. There may be other ways to
separate the bid.
