The second smoke alarm has been installed. The painting on the second floor has been
completed and the new carpeting has been placed. The Saturday Work Crew will be taking the
month of August off. The Quilters will still meet on Mondays as usual. The Historic House will
be open to the public for tours on the third Sunday of the month from 1-4 p.m. The Annual Ice
Cream Social and Open House will be held September 9, 1998 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the
Historic House. A $3 donation is requested.
M.A.R.C. -Mrs. Cinco said there is no report--no meeting in July. They will be meeting this
Thursday.
Ordinance Review Committee - Mr. Samar said the Committee met July 14. The committee
discussed the ordinance on procedures as requested by Mr. Busa. They also discussed legislation
amending the Building Code. (It is on tonight's agenda--Ord. 98-28. Mr. Samar recommended
it be given first reading. There will be time for further discussion before it is passed.)
Plannin~Land Zoning -Mrs. Mills reported the Commission met this evening. They
recommended two items for Council approval: the site plan for the Science Center at the High
School and the installation of an antenna along I-271 by Sprintcom Telecommunications.
Recreation Board -There was no report.
Sewer Liaison Committee -Council President Fixler said the meeting with the Septic Home
Owner's Association went well. In excess of 100 people attended.
Dr. Parker said we had discussed placing a member as a liaison; Council should address that
request.
•~Crou~c~il President Fixler said they requested a resident become a member of the Sewer Liaison
-~oYn'~lttee as a liaison between Council and the committee. He believes Council must address
:fit--we may need legislation.
Mr. Diemert said since the committee wasn't created by legislation, Council could appoint a
civilian to the committee but they cannot vote.
Council President Fixler asked Mrs. Roman to write a letter to Mr. Fred Freer on Meadowood to
see if he will serve in that capacity.
Mayor Rinker said this is a proactive issue. We must set an agenda and develop a plan of action,
a prioritization of streets and a proposal of where we will be next--a master plan for sewering.
