Regular Council Meeting <br />12/21/98 <br />Page 3 <br />Ordinance Review Committee - Mr. Marquardt said there was no report. <br />Planning; and Zoning-- Mrs. Mills said the Commission met this evening. They considered a <br />proposal for a Special Use Permit for a law office at 640 SOM Center Road and it was defeated. <br />Recreation Board - Mr. Buckholtz said they talked about girls fast pitch softball. Mr. Buckholtz <br />reported that the Rec Steering Committee discussed the job descriptions for the Recreation <br />Director, Pool Manager and lifeguards. The advertisements have been published and we are <br />looking for people to fill those positions. <br />Mrs. Mills said she attended Recreation's Christmas party. Children had their pictures taken with <br />Santa. (We may need to purchase a new suit for Santa.) <br />Sewer Liaison Committee - Mr. Buckholtz said there was no report. <br />OLD BUSINESS <br />Third reading of the Ordinance 98-34, entitled; "An emergency ordinance authorizing <br />modification No. 1 to the Professional Services Agreement with URS Greiner for the North <br />Chagrin Commons Development/S.O.M. Center Road widening." Introduced by Mayor Rinker <br />and Council as a Whole. (First Reading 9/28/98; Second Reading 11/9/98) <br />Mr. Marquardt, seconded by Mrs. Mills made a motion to enact Ordinance 98-34. <br />Mr. Busa said we are spending too much money for engineering. We can't afford that kind of <br />expenditure. He said he was supposed to be on that committee and they overlooked it and he is <br />opposed. <br />Mr. Brett explained that because of the efforts of URS Greiner the Village has received a $9 <br />million dollar grant which will offset the widening of SOM. <br />Council President Fixler said no one is questioning the quality of their work, the only question is <br />the monies. <br />Roll Call: AYES: Mr. Buckholtz, Mrs. Cinco, Mrs. Mills, Mr. Marquardt, and Dr. Parker <br />NAYS: Mr. Busa and Mr. Fixler Motion Carried <br />Ordinance Passed <br />OPEN PORTION <br />3 minute limit imposed by Chair.
