Regular Council Meeting <br />8-16-99 <br />Page 2 <br />Chief Stevens expressed thanks for the flowers Mayor Rinker and Council sent his wife. <br />Mr. Thomas said there will be a walk through of the Wetlands on August 23 at 6 p.m. Everyone <br />will meet at the site sign. They will return to the Community Room after the walk. He invited <br />everyone to attend. The softball banquet will be held at Parkview Pool tomorrow evening. The <br />statistics are very good for Parkview Pool--13,129 people came through the doors through <br />August 7. A little more than 1/3 of the people registered are Mayfield Village residents. We had <br />135 people partake in the Learn-to-Swim program. Over 20 rentals have been booked and 1,100 <br />guest passes were sold. <br />STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS <br />Activities Committee -Mayor Rinker said the Gazebo concerts have gone well. Mrs. Roman <br />said the Committee will meet in September. There will be a concert on August 26 (the rain <br />date.) Harry Hershey is not available on a Thursday so we are still trying to decide when to <br />schedule him. We will keep everyone posted. <br />Architectural Review Board -There was no report. <br />Board of Appeals -There was no report. <br />Cemetery -There was no report. <br />Citizen's Advisor~Board -There was no report. <br />Commission onAging - Mr. Busa read the report from Mrs. Kalina (attached.) <br />Safety and Service -Mrs. Cinco said the committee met this evening. The committee and Chief <br />Stevens reviewed the amendments to the laser pointer ordinance and recommend moving <br />forward with it. Mrs. Cinco encouraged Council to read the four items requested by Chief <br />Stevens and call Chief Stevens or a member of S&S with any questions. The committee <br />recommends moving forward with a modular office building and advertising for bids for four <br />vehicles. <br />Finance Committee - Dr. Parker said the committee met this evening. They recommend <br />approval of agenda items 1, 2, 3--but would like to explore 3, 4, 5, 6, 8 (will be $2,700), 9 (with <br />.the understanding that would include capping the gas, electric, et cetera), 10 and 11. <br />Hillcrest Council ofCouncils -Mrs. Cinco said there was no report. <br />Historical Society - Dr. Parker reported that the Saturday work crew took offthe month of <br />August; work will resume on August 28. The annual Ice Cream Social will be held September 8 <br />at 6:30 p.m. They will have a quilt raffle drawing. Tickets are available through members. <br />M.A.R.C. Mrs. Cinco said there was no report. <br />
