Regular Council Meeting
8-16-99
Page 3
Ordinance Review Committee - Mr. Ilacqua said he attended the meeting last week. We will be
moving forward with changes on two ordinances: one is regarding the parking of vehicles on
front lawns and tree lawns as being a citable offense. -The second item was to give the various
parties in the Village that currently have neon signs displayed in their windows a year to make
the necessary changes to comply.
Planning and Zoning -Council President Marquardt said he attended a workshop last week. The
1Vlayfran addition was discussed (which was approved by P&Z this evening). There was also a
presentation from Goldberg properties proposing an entryway off of S.O.M. (across from Metro
Park Drive)--this will be on hold until the next meeting. A proposal to convert the Georgian
Center Office to medical buildings was also discussed. The issue there is the amount of parking
that is necessary. They were looking for a special use permit. That is on hold pending more
infor-mation.
Recreation Board - Mr. Buckholtz said the fall Parks & Recreation brochure will be mailed to
residents on August 19. The activities will cover September through December 1999. The
Recreation Board will meet September 15.
Sewer Liaison Committee - Mr. Buckholtz said the committee met this month. It was a very
informative meeting. Representatives from the Cuyahoga County Board of Health were there
and the meeting went well.
OLD BUSINESS
Ordinance 99-20, entitled; "An emergency ordinance creating Section 537.21 of the Codified
Ordinances pertaining to the possession and use of laser pointing devices." Introduced by Mayor
Rinker and Council as a Whole. (First Reading 5/17/99; Second Reading 6/21/99; Third
Reading/Tabled 7/21/99.)
Mrs. Cinco, seconded by Mr. Busa, made a motion to remove Ordinance 99-20 from the table.
Roll Call: AYES: All
NAYS: None Motion Carried
Ordinance Removed From Table
Mr. Busa, seconded by Dr. Parker, made a motion to enact Ordinance 99-20 as amended.
Council President Marquardt asked for a summary of the amendments.
Mrs. Cinco said we wanted the legislation to include the age limits, schools and sales --also that
they will not-be shined directly or indirectly on another .person or animal. This version is about 3
pages longer than the original version. Chief Stevens is happy with the revisions.
