Regular Council Meeting
9-27-99
Page 14
Mrs. Mills said she was advised by the Mayor of Highland Heights that the old Builder's Square
will become a Home Depot after the first of the year.
Mrs. Cinco requested Chief Stevens keep the walls-through for the police station from 7 to 7:30
so the Department Heads could get their items addressed at the Safety & Service meeting.
Mr. Busa said he wants to give Mrs. Mills the deed to the Historical Society.
Mr. Busa asked what is going on by the Howard Schulz property.
Mayor Rinker said we are storing dirt. With other activity going on and anticipating we will be
constructing things there and may need that dirt, we have found it may be useful to store it there.
Mr. Busa said there are no proposals on record that he knows of.
Mayor Rinker asked for what, it is our land. About the only proposal was to put ball fields down
there. It is something Recreation and Council will look at.
Mr. Busa said he is bringing it up because they are plowing it up. Mr. Busa said I want to bring
to your attention that there is an Indian burial ground on that property.
Mayor Rinker asked where.
Mr. Busa said I haven't the faintest idea where. He was told by an authorized person and wants
to be on record. They are tearing it up today. He suggests we take care because if he sees bones
sticking out, he will be very angry.
Mayor Rinker asked if Mr. Busa had any information that might assist us and asked who the
authority is.
Mr. Busa said Howard Schulz [is the authority]. Mr. Busa said I am repeating a story; I think
you should know. It would be a disaster if somebody told us later after it is done. I want to tell
you now before we tear it up.
Dr. Parker asked if it is possible for us to get a couple of signs in the Hanover Woods for no drag
racing or slow children. We have two main straight sways there. There are some people who
drive quickly down that stretch. Residents have mentioned to him that they would like to have
some signage. He is concerned with the safety of the children.
Mayor Rinker said we went through this once in our- neighborhood. Maybe we could post a
vehicle or one of those big digital signs.
Chief Stevens said we usually fmd out that 90% of the offenders live in the neighborhood. He
will follow up on it.
