Regular Council Meeting
12-13-99
Page 16
says it's a referendum vote. Then, if they want to challenge the residential zoning, they look at how
the community has studied, (with extra studies) with experts who are trained and who don't just
substitute an opinion, that is not what I am calling for, I am calling for dialog with someone. You
have seen a well considered preliminary proposal from someone who knows what he is talking
about: David Hartt, a planner that this Council authorized our hiring, finally, who has at least given
us, I hope, some food for thought. This is a person who has testified in courtrooms, he is the expert
that the other side will call to talk about calming effects, to talk about depreciation of property
values; all the things that everyone's afraid about. I am not afraid of these things, I am saying we
look to these challenges and we meet them head on. And we have done that with everyone here and
I will continue to do that. Give me the chance to do it.
Council President Marquardt asked if there were any other comments.
Someone in the audience started talking.
Council President Marquardt said there are only comments from Council right now.
Roll Call: (2N - S lanes north of Highland)
AYES: Mr. Buckholtz, Mr. Busa, Mr. Ilacqua, Mr. Marquardt and Dr. Parker
NAYS: Mrs. Cinco and Mrs. Mills
Motion Carried
2N Plan Authorized
^ A motion to authorize the 3N plan (6 lanes) for the widening of S.O.M. Center Road (north
of Highland Road)
Mr. Ilacqua, seconded by Mr. Busa, made a motion to have the motion to authorize the 2S plan to be
removed from the agenda.
Roll Call: (Voice Vote)
AYES: All
NAYS: None
Motion Carried
The motion to authorize the 3N plan (61anes) for the widening of S.O.M.
