Regular Council Meeting <br />12-13-99 <br />Page 25 <br />Roll Call: AYES: All <br />NAYS: None <br />Council went into Executive Session at 9:40 p.m. <br />Council reconvened at 10:00 p.m. <br />Motion Carried <br />OPEN PORTION - 3 minute limit imposed by Chair. Those who wish to speak must first state <br />their name and address. This open portion is limited to discussion pertaining to the items under <br />"New Business" only. <br />There were no comments. <br />ANY OTHER MATTER THAT MAY COME BEFORE COUNCIL <br />There were no other matters before Council. <br />CLOSING COMMENTS <br />Mr. Thomas said the MBA Youth Basketball Program is off and running right now. We have 24 <br />volunteer coaches, 14 teams and 140 players. Mayfield Village and Mayfield Schools are <br />joining resources to do a Winter Break Camp. That will be from K-5~' Grade December 20 <br />through the 30d`. We will be doing swimming, arts and crafts, field trips and other activities <br />during that week. We will be activating a Teen Board as Mr. Buckholtz said. The Teen Board <br />will work on that survey and do a teen mixer again in February or March. We have 8 teams in <br />the Over 40 Men's Basketball League and we will have 6 teams in the Men's 18 and Over which <br />will start on January 2nd. The annual Santa ride and Christmas party will be held this Saturday <br />form 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The party will be from 1:30 to 3:00 in the Community Room. <br />Mr. Buckholtz said he wanted to reiterate, very briefly, for the record, I wanted to do it when Jim <br />Farmer was here and many of the people on Citizen's Advisory and Planning and Zoning, this <br />used to come up from the old Council I call it when I first started, I don't think anybody takes it <br />lightly whenever we reverse an opinion or a decision that is made by one of those committees. <br />We take it extra seriously, at least I do and everyone I talk to and it makes us work all that much <br />harder to look into it. I just wanted to say again, appreciating all the hard work that went into it, <br />I still had to make my decision. <br />Mrs. Mills thanked Mr. Metzung and the Service Department crew for all the work they do with <br />the Garden Club. We don't know exactly what our profits are [for the Craft Show] but we had <br />973 paid admissions this year. <br />Council President Marquardt said this has been a very difficult decision for all of us.
