7R
Mr. Stoner explained.why his building was unique to others in the Village,
creating the problem of sign visibility. Being 14 feet from the curb makes
it difficult to see the sign on the front of the building unless you are
directly in front of the building or going east on Wilson Mills Road.
Anyone coming west would have diff iculty finding the building. He compared
other businesses and the visibility of their signs, and explained the
restrictions that prohiliit him from placing a visible sign unless this
variance could be granted.
Mr. Etzler agreed the building is unique and he does not see another building
in the Village with a similar problem.
Mrs. Hanus and Mr..Carmen concurred also.
. Mr. Carmen said he felt the biggest concern was the precedent that may be set
by allowing this variance. However, if this variance is being granted and it
is stipulated that it is being granted because of its unusual circumstance,
the matter of precedence would not be a problem.
Mrs. Hanus, seconded by Mr. Carmen, made a motion to grant the sign variance
to Stoner Hardware (said request attached to these minutes).
Mr. Busa a,sked if Council had any further comments.
There were none.
