79
MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF COUNCIL
Village of Mayfield
June 20, 1983
The Council of the Village of Mayfield met in Regular Session on Monday, June
20, 1983, at 8:10 p.m. at the Village Hall. Council President, Vince J. Busa,
presided.
The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag was given.
Roll Call: Present: Messrs., Busa, Carmen, Etzler, Flynn, Mrs. Bloom, and
Mrs. Hanus
Absent : Mr. Spellman
Also Present Were . Mayor Beebe, Messrs., Amendola, Feneli, Hovancsek, Toth,
Chief Hejcl, and Chief. Stevens
OPEN PORTION
Mr. Louis Gross, L.N. GroSs'Co:;'Bradley_Kriitwear;'701 Beta Drive - requested
Council consider allowing his company to sell some of their merchandise directly
to the public for a weekend. He said they would like to do this, as they did
one other time ("Beta Days") probably towards the end of August. They would
like to f irst offer their merchandise to the residents of Mayfield Village, and
the following day or two to the general public. Those who participated in the
previous sale indicated their sales were good and upon checking with the Police
Department, there were no ma.jor problems with parking, etc. He is seeking
permission for his.company, by itself, or along with others on Beta, to be
permitted to participate in a weekend where they may open their warehouse to
the public.
Mr. Carmen said when "Beta Days" was held previously., Mr. Gross was the major
participant because others on Beta who might have been interested were not
advised in sufficient time for them to prepare to participate. He feels Council
may be interested in allowing another "Beta Days" weekend if it included many
businesses on Beta and not just the L.N. Gross Company. He suggested Mr. Gross
research this, and find out how many other companies on Beta would be willing
to participate in such a sale. He recommended this be done to allow suff icient
time for the other companies to plan their sales, possibly by the first of July.
r4r. Gross said he has already spoken with several other companies on Beta who
were very much interested; the Holiday Inn, Sherwin Williams, the.Racquet Club,
and Desbergs Electric.
Mrs. Bloom commented that when she placed a number of calls regarding this last
year, she determined there were other companies interested. She suggested the
companies that do not wish to participate in a sale may want to have an Open
House so that residents can see what is being produced in the area.
