91
MINUTES OF A COUNCIL AS BOARD OF APPEALS MEETING
Village of Mayfield
June 20, 1983
The Council of the Village of Mayfield recessed from their Regular Meeting
of Council, Monday, June 20, 1983 at 10:55 p.m. to reconvene as a Board of
Appeals.
Mr. Feneli explained the pending variance request from Nacy Panzica for
Georgian Center that Council was to consider. Mr. Panzica requested a
variance from our code which states one parking space per 100 square feet
to one parking space for every 200 square feet.
Mr. Carmen said the Planning and Zoning Commission voted unanimously in
favor of granting the variance. Their reasons.were; the variance was given
to others that had applied and from their study they found that our code is
our of line compared to other codes, most allow one parking space for every
200 square feet.
Mr. Flynn asked Mr. Panzica if it would work a hardship on him should the
variance not be granted.
Mr. Panzica said everything hinges on the f inancing and the lender wants to
be sure everything is in order before financing is approved. His plans show
parking at one spac.e per 200 square feet.
Mrs. Hanus commented that S.O.M. Center Road is narrow at the point where-Mr.
Panzica's office building will be and there will probably be a traff ic jam
there.
Mr. Panzica said he would do.whatever he could do to help alleviate the problem.
Mr. Feneli said in all fairness, a parking variance is to be considered, not a
traff ic variance.
Mrs. Hanus said the Codified Ordinances state one parking space per every 100
square feet and questioned why Mr, Panzica planned for one space per 200 square
feet when he made up his plans.
Mr. Panzica said he knew other variances had been granted and did not think
there would be a problem.in receiving the variance.
Mr. Etzler asked if it was determined a traffic signal would be necessary at
the entrance to Mr. Panzica's building, if he would be.willing to participate
in the cost of the light. The approximate cost of a traff ic signal is $30,000.00.
Mr. Panzica said he would be willing to.participate in the cost of a traffic
signal if it was necessary to help alleviate a traffic problem caused by his
office building.
