?etiy ?m'?
. v?5 `!?J
There were no objections.
Council President Spellman stated, there being no objections, the minutes
will stand as written.
Council President Spellman stated that he and Mayor Beebe have agreed to the
following dates regarding the Finance Director appointment; to proceed with
the confirmation processo On June 9th Council will meet as the Committee of
the Whole in Executive Session to establish a criteria by which they would
consider the appointment of a Finance Director solely by his qualif ications.
There will then be a meeting on June 15 for the Committee of the Whole to
meet in Executive Session for the purpose of interviewing the Mayor's
appointee, Mr. Steven Toth. On-J.une 21 a vote will be taken at the Regular
Meeting of Council concerning the appointment. He stated a yes vote with
four votes means that Mr. Toth is qualified and therefore will be sworn in
that evening. If there fails to be four affirmative votes then Mr. Toth is
rejected as the appointee. The June 9 and 15 meetings both will be at 7:30
p.m. Council President Spellman stated that Council will meet June 21, 1982
as a Board of Appeals.at 7:30 p.m. to consider the request of the L.N. Gross
Company. He stated Ordinance 82-43, introduced by Mayor Beebe confirming the
appointment of Mr. Steven Toth and detailing rate of pay will be referred to
the Committee of the Who1e for discussion at the June 9 and June 15 meetings.
Mayor Beebe commented this is a very orderly and progressive way to make a
decision. He feels this is the best approach to the situation. He stated
they had an excellent meeting the other evening which he is in total accordance
with.
Mrs. Bloom stated she will not be able to attend the June 9th meeting.
Council President Spellman stated the June 9th meeting will be changed from
7:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. as the other members of Council agreed 7:00 would be
better.
Discussion Rega'rding Beech'Hi11'Road
Mrs. Robert Fetzer, 899 Beecfi'Hill'Road - stated the Beech Hill residents met
on June 2 to discuss the May 6th letter they received from Mr. Feneli as
directed by Council to be sent. She reported the residents arrived at the
following decisions: They will not assume the responsibility.for.the maintenance
of Village roads. They agreed they would not getition for paving at this time.
She stated she is not an official spokesperson for the residents and is stating
her opinion only. She said Mr. Feneli's letter stated that Council has determined
that it can no longer justify the expenditure of funds for the maintenance and
repair of Beech Hill Road. She had a newspaper article of November 19, 1981
regarding Beech Hill and Beechers Brook. Mayor Beebe was quoted as saying;
"Money-wise, the cost is minimal. A hundred dollars worth of gravel here and
there". Mrs. Fetzer said the residents of Beech Hill know full well that the
cost has been minimal and road maintenance has been relatively poor for some
time now. She said she does not expect thousands of dollars to be appropriated
for Beech Hill Road. She feels their needs are very simple. All they would
require is an occasional grading, a little gravel here and there, a dust
inhibitor and functional ditches (something that seems to be lacking in some
areas, and seemingly lacking in the recently paved north end of Beech Hill Road).
