30
Mayor Carmen asked that Mr. Amendola and Mr. Hovancsek put together a cost
estimate within the next ten days including that needs to be done and how
much it will cost: He will then contact Mr. Boylan and discuss what he
should do and what the village will do to correet his problem.
Florian Rickey - 6128 Wilson Mills Road - asked for a report on the meeting
held with Highland Heights regarding the traffic problem.
Mayor Carmen said we are concerned about two topics:
1) Theā¢Front Row Traffic problem, and;
2) The potential new problem on Highland Road. When they begin
re-routing traffic from the Industrial Park, the proposed road is
going to be very near the bridge, which will be very dangerous
when it's icy.
Mayor Carmen noted that Chief Stevens had a suggestion for internal routing
of Front Row traffic which would enable more cars to get into the parking
lot faster. However, we must f ind a solution that benefits Highland Heights
as much as it does Mayfield Village.
Mayor Carmen said the village did a traffic study at the Front Row because
they were considering pu.t.ting a part-time officer_ on duty during Front Row
events to assist Mayfield Village residents exiting from their streets.
They found that there were not enough residents trying_to exit their streets
to warrant an additional officer on duty. They were also concerned about the
safety of. the officer. He said they will be meeting again in the near future
to discuss both problems and try to resolve them.
Mr. Rickey said he feels Highland Heights is responsible for the Front Row
traffic problem and would like to attend the meeting.
Reverend Huffman, PSayfield United Methodist Church - said he is in support of
the Hilltop Interceptor Sewer project. There will be a meeting at the church
next Monday night and they will do their best to see that the interceptor is.
put in.
Mr. Etzler noted a meeting that he, along with other members of Council and
State Officials attended last"August. He,said that everyone was in-favor of
the interceptor except one man from the EPA. He feels the only thing to do
now is to contact the State Representatives and the Governor to let them
know our position.
Mrs. Bloom noted tha the pumping sta?tion in Highland Heights is going to
close and that there have been three recent overflows which should indicate
that our present system is obsolete. The Governor's Office seemed positive
toward the interceptor sewer and she hopes they pursue it further.
Dennis Rash, 823 Beech Hill Road - said he feel,s that the previous Mayfield
Village Officials created the present problem by putting in the pumping stations.
Mr. Hovancsek explained how the pumping stations originated and that it was
not due to the Mayfield Village Officials.
