72 ; <br />CLOSING COMMENTS <br />Mr. Goley questioned the status of the gas.leak on the Haines property. <br />Mayor Carmen said Mr. Amendola is looking into the problem. <br />Mr. Toth said he.will be out of town until Friday. <br />Mr. Basile asked Mr. Hovancsek if another bid was received for sewers. <br />Mr. Hovancsek will check on this. <br />Mr. Flynn asked Mr. Hovancsek if he had begun checking intoi:the_:f.easibility <br />and the cost of a guard rail and turning lane at Beta and SOM intersection. <br />Mr. Hovancsek will look into this matter this week. <br />Mr. Jim Plastine - 6593 Wilson Mills Road - said last month a resolution <br />transferring the antique hearse to the Ma:yfield Township Historical Society <br />was put on first reading. He asked why it was not on the agenda tonight. <br />Mr. Etzler said Council had a question as to where the hearse would be stored. <br />Mr. Plastine said he had stated at the last Council meeting that the hearse <br />would be stored in a garage at Whitehaven Cemetery. <br />Mr. Etzler said Council wanted to be sure it wi11 be stored someplace safe. <br />Mayor Carmen asked if he and Council could look at the garage where they <br />would store the hearse. <br />Mr. Plastine said he would meet with them and show them the garage. It is <br />the last maintenance garage. <br />Mr. Etzler said after they look at the garage they might decide to call a <br />Special Meeting to adop.t the resolution. <br />There being no further busienss, Council went into Executive Session at 8:45 p.m. <br />Council reconvened at 9 p.m. <br />Mayor Carmen administered the oath of office to Ralph Tarsitano as'a member <br />of the Civil Servic-e Commission. His s.ix year term will end December 31, 1990. <br />Mr..Etzler said that Council and the Mayor keep abreast of income tax collection <br />and they are substantially ahead this year. In relationship to the percentage <br />increase given to the employees, the Village is now in the position to:increase <br />wages more than the 4.25% already given. They wi11 add a 1% increase to the 4.25% <br />to all full-time employees. In addition to that,; they will given P-ach full-time <br />employee a supplemental check payable the first pay in December of 1% of their <br />annual salary. <br />Mayor Carmen said that would make a total increase for 1985 of 6.25%. He said <br />the increase will now jeopardize other priorities such as road repairs, etc. <br />It is part of their long-term plan of continually re-evaluating the financial <br />position. <br /> <br /> <br />
