66 <br />Regular Council Meeting <br />6/20/88 <br />Page 6 <br />Finance - Mr. Flynn said the Finance Committee met this evening. They <br />recommend that Council.pass the following legislation: Resolution 88-25, <br />Ordinance 88-16, and Resolutions 88-28 and 29. He said they discussed the <br />Wilson Mill s project including the water line and the Engineer's fees. Mr. <br />Flynn said there will be a Public Hearing on July 19 regarding the 1989 tax <br />budgeto He said the committee also discussed Burgess and Niplev <br />Hillcrest Council of Councils - There was no report; Mr. Santoro was absent. <br />M.A.R:C. - Mr. Petschauer said that he would like to place M.A.R.C. on the <br />July Council Caucus agenda regarding the Mayfield High School pool <br />supervision and related liability insurance. <br />Planning and Zoning - Mr. Basile said the Commission met June 6. He said <br />that the only item on their agenda was the Robertson lot split and that will <br />come up at the Regular Meeting next month. <br />Safety- and-Service- Mrs. Mills reported that the Enhanced on-line service <br />will start approximately August 16e She said that they will be looking into <br />the cost of air conditioning units which need to be installed where the new <br />unit will be installed. Mrs. Mills said the Committee suggested that the <br />rules be suspended on Ordinance 88-15 and that it be passed as an emergency. <br />They requested that Resolution 88-22 be passed, and that the rules be <br />suspended on Resolution 88-23 and that it be passed as an emergency. Mrs. <br />Mills said they requested a study of a possible public safety levy. They <br />would like to refer the possible appointments of a lieutenant in the Police <br />Department and a Sergeant in the Fire Department to the Civil Service <br />Commission Mrs. Mills said that the Safety and Service Committee requested <br />an ordinance regarding occupancy of all new tenants in existing commercial <br />buildings to assure that all building and fire codes are being met. Mrs. <br />Mills said they also requested an ordinance for the inspection of all septic <br />systems at the point of sale of a residential home (which would be done by <br />the Cuyahoga County Board of Health.) She said the committee has discussed <br />the bike path. She and Chief Stevens looked at the path regarding the <br />question of whether the appropriate signs were still in position on the <br />poles. She said while they were looking at the bike path they noted a bike <br />rider who did not yield to any of the signs. Mrss Mills asked how we can <br />police people in situations like that. She said that she thinks we should <br />consider some type of sign to be posted at the ends of the bike path <br />governing the use of the bike path. <br />Mr. Iafelice - said he does not understand why the bike path must be so wide <br />and he feels people get a false sense of security because they're on a bike <br />path. _ <br />Mrsa Mills said that they are still supposed to yield. <br />Mr. Basile said that Mr. Iafelice was out of order; Mrs. Mills was making a <br />report to Councilo <br />Mr. Iafelice asked if he could have the floor. He asked if they were being <br />that formal.
