90 <br />Regular Council Meeting <br />7/18/88 <br />Page l?. <br />Mr. Basile, seconded by Mr. Rinker, made a motion to suspend the rules of <br />Council requiring a resolution to be read on three separate occasions. <br />Roll Call: AYES: All <br />NAYS: None Motion Carried <br />Rules Suspended <br />Mr. Basile, seconded by Mrs. Mills, made a motion to adopt Resolution No. <br />88-38. <br />Mr. Ramos asked Mra-Amendola to state his recommendation regarding the award <br />of this contract for the record. <br />Mr. Amendola said that he must base his opinion on the main thing--he has been <br />working with the trash haulers for a long time. He said he has found them to <br />be dependable, Mr. Amendola said their equipment has improved and one of the <br />most important items is the service from the drivers. He said every time they <br />are in the area they let us know whose rubbish was not seen. He said we get <br />calls to pick up rubbish that was missed or not out in time and they go back <br />out. He said that he thinks that type of dependability is what we need. <br />Mr. Flynn expressed his thanks to Glynos Disposal for bidding on the project. <br />Roll Call: AYES: All <br />NAYS: None Motion Carried <br />Resolution Adopted <br />,. , .. <br />First Reading of Resolution No. 88-39, entitled; "A RESOLUTION DECLARING A 7 J <br />CEMENT CONTRACTORS TO BE THE LOWEST AND BEST BIDDER FOR THE RESURFACING OF <br />CERTAIN STREETS WITHIN THE MUNICIPALITY, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND PRESIDENT <br />OF COUNCIL TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH A& J CEMENT CONTRACTORS IN AN AMOUNT <br />NOT TO EXCEED EIGHTY-NINE THOUSAND FIFTY DOLLARS ($89,050.00), REJECTING ALL <br />OTHER BIDS RECEIVED AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY." Introduced by Mayor Carmen <br />and Council as a Whole. <br />Mr. Basile, seconded by Mrs. Mills, made a motion to suspend the rules of <br />Council requiring a resolution to be read on three separate occasions. <br />Roll Call: AYES.: All- <br />NAYS: None Motion Carried <br />I Rules Suspended <br />Mrs. Mills, seconded by Mr. Santoro, made a motion to adopt Resolution Noo <br />88-39. <br />Mr. Flynn said that because of the occurrence on Oakwood, perhaps Mr. <br />Hovancsek and Mr. Amendola could determine what could be done. <br />Mr. Hovancsek said that he had looked at the area where the water main broke. <br />He said that it says in the bid that that should be repaired as soon as <br />possible. He said that the contractor would be willing to do the work on <br />there as part of the contract. <br />Discussion was held.
