174
Regular Council Meeting
12/19/88
Page 10
Mr. Basile, seconded by Mrs. Mills, made a motion to adopt Resolution
No. 88-59.
Mr. Patrick explained the resolution.
Roll Call: AYES: All
NAYS: None
Motion Carried
Resolution Adopted
Resolution No. 88-60, entitled; "A RESOLUTION OBJECTING TO THE
ESTABLISHMENT OF A COMMERCIAL COMMUTER AIRLINE AT CUYAHOGA COUNTY
AIRPORT." Introduced by Mayor Carmen and Council as a Whole.
Mr. Basile explained that the Cuyahoga County Airport is attempting to
establish a commercial commuter airline which would create more air
traffic for this area and more noise. He said that the City of
Richmond Heights is definitely against it and that Highland Heights is
also against it. He thought that the Village should have a resolution
opposing it also.
Mrs. Mills asked if that was regulated by the Federal Government.
Discussion was held.
Mayor Carmen explained that approval by the County Commissioners was
the first step and if they did not approve it that it would never get
to the Federal Government.
Mr. Petschauer. said that he wasn't ready to make a decision and
suggested that this item be discussed at Caucus.
Mr. Rinker asked what the pluses were.
Mayor Carmen said that it would create new business in the area and
additional employees which means additional tax dollars.
Mr. Rinker said that passage of the legislation may generate further
discussion.
Mayor Carmen agreed and said that it might put it in on hold while we
discuss it further. He noted that the first whereas clause included
the date of January 27, 1977, and asked if it should be 1987.
Mr. Basile, seconded by Mr. Rinker, made a motion to adopt Resolution
No. 88-60.
Roll Call: AYES: Mr. Basile, Mrs. Cinco, Mr. Flynn, Mrs. Mills,
and Mr. Rinker
NAYS: None '
ABSTAIN: Mr. Petschauer
Motion Carried
Resolution Adopted
?
