70
do with the replacement of a fire hydrant in March. A pipe was broken that
goes under their drive and damaged their lawn. Mrs. Farinacci said
that she is concerned because she and others are feeling alot of.negative
feeling because concerns are not answered right away. She also stated
that a bottle of poison that they reported to the Village last year that
was supposed to be picked up by the Village, has not yet been picked up.
Mro Amendola said the responsibility for Mrs. Farinacci's problem is
technically not the Village's. A private contractor was hired by the Cleveland
Water Department to do water repairs on hydrants. It is their responsibility.
He has been in contact with the company (who is located in Michigan)
about these problems but they have not returned to make the repairs.
He said they have been waiting to hear.from the contractor. Mr. Amendola
said the Village will make this repair and take care of the lawn too.
Mayo.r Carmen said the Village should make the repair for the homeowner and
try to contact the contractor for reimbursement. He thinks the next step
is to look at filing action against the contractor.
Mr. Feneli asked if Mr. Amendola has contacted the Water Department.
Mr. Amendola said he talked to Mr. Thompson at the Water Department.
Mr. Feneli said we would have to find out the name of the bonding
company who wrote the performance bond for the contractor hired by the
Cleveland Water Department in order to take action.
Mr. Amendola said the pipe had been installed, but he did not want to
complete the asphalt work until he began the asphalt repairs on the -:
Village streets which will be in about a week and a half.
Mayor Carmen asked Mrs. Farinacci if she could put up with the problem that
long.
Mrs. Farinacci questioned the safety of driving into and out of her driveway.
Mr. Amendola told Mrs. Farinacci that she would be able to dr.ive over the
pipe the way it was presently with no damage.
Mr. Petschauer asked if the Village is required to make inspections of
the work done.
Mr. Amendola said the contractors must advise them every time they come in
town to do work, but no inspections of their work is made.
Mayor Carmen said we need to look at our response time and suggested that
residents contact their ward councilperson to follow up on items requiring
replies.
?J
