75

solution to the problems were to open up the area around the willow tree.
Mr. Hovancsek said that is only a temporary solution. The roots R311 grow
back in abont five to six years. The permanent solution is to remove the
tree.
Further discussion was held.
Mr Flynn said.that a decision must be made regarding what will be done so
that Mr. Feneli can advise the property owner whether we are asking him to
cut around the tree or remove the tree completely.
Mr. Feneli agreed that he has to know what will be done before he confronts
the property owner.
M'r. Etzler suggested definite plans be made to clean out the ditch",_and
report back'to the Mayor and Council how much it will taka to clear the
whole problem.
Front Row - Mayor Cazmen said he met with Mayor Hughes of Highland Heights
and his Safety Traffic Officer, Lt. Cook about two to three taeeks ago. At
that meeting, Mayor Carmen. said he-askecl that a meeting be scheduled between
Mayor Hughes, Lt. Cook, Sgt. Jay, a representative of the Front Row Theatre,
and all interested residents for the purpose of doing two things: 1) Allow-
ing Mayfield Village residents to air their concerns and frustrations of
their inability to safely get,-.in and out of their driveways, and; 2) to
allow the officials to hold discussion and try to come up with a solution to
the problem. Mayor Hughes thought that was a good idea and agreed to contact :
the Front Row and get back to Mayor Carmen. Mayor Carmen.said the date`
for the meeting was set, and the next day Mayor Hughes advised him that Mr.
White of the Front Row would `"meet with tlie Mayors, but he did nov:want to
meet:'_with the residents. Mayor Hughes told Mr. White he felt that would
be sufficient. Mayor Carmen said he told Mayor Hughes he disagreed, he
felt it was necessary that a Front Row representative attend the meeting
to shoti* residents they cared, and were trying to come up with a solution
to th.eir problems. 'Mayor Carmen= said he then talked to Mr. White. Mr.
White said he would attend a meeting with residents if he could.first have
a meeting with Mayor Carmen and the Highland Heights officials to ],et us
know why all'-'the solutions we proposed in the past would not work. Mayor
Carmen said he had rio interest in that kind of ineeting; he wanted a-.meet-
ing to discuss new solutions. Accordingly, the meeting scheduled was
canceled, since Mr. White re£used to come. He said he received a call from
Mr. White today, which he will return. He has the Law Director and Police
Chief looking at:possible legal alternatives tha.t we have within the Village
to end the problem. We are looking at a number of solutions that may create
horrible traffic problems for Highland Heights and the Front Row. He feels
that as soon as it becomes Highland Heights and the Front Rows problem,
it wi11 stop becoming Mayfield Villages problem b_ecause then they'll want to :talk to us. '
QLD BUSINESS
Third'Reading of Ordinance No. 86-4,-:entitled; "AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION
155.06(A) OF THE CODIFIED ORDTNANCES OF MAYFIELD VILLAGE, OHIO, S.0 AS TO
INCLUDE THE MAYFIELD VILLAGE GARDEN CLUB AND MAYFIELD HISTORICAL SOCIETY
AS GROUPS ENTITLED TO USE THE COMMUNITY ROOM BUILDING WITHOUT CHARGE."
