He had hoped they w'ould be here this
evening, but as he indicated earlier, they chose to meet
yesterday and are not here this evening. There will be no final
resolution to this matter this evening.
Mayor Carmen asked for comments and questions from the audience.
Martin Comel-la,_673 Robley_Lane- said he thinks this situation
-- - ------ - ---- -
is appalling to him and to every resident in the Village. He
said regarding vested interest, you must consider the vested
interest of the property owners. If this building is
constructed, what will it do to the vested interests of all the
residents in the area? They have to look at this monstrosity.
It will cost them money when they sell their property. As soon
as this building goes up, it will be an immediate devaluation of
the property of all neighbors in this area. It's also going to
make Mayfield Village the laughing-stock of the whole County.
Also, he would like to know why Mr. Amendola issued the permit
without going through the Architectural Review Board. We, as
neighbors have a right to know what the building is going to
look like, and what is being built next door, across the street,
etc. Mr. Comella commented on other homes in the Village that
he felt violated the.code and asked why they were permitted.
Mayor- C-armen -said we, are constraining our discussion this
evening to this particular matter. He asked Mr. Comella to
provide nim with a list of the other areas he was referring to
so we can check them out.
Mayor Carmen said we will ask the A.R.B. to hold another meeting
so residents do have a chance to look at the plans; he feels
they have the right to do so. He said regarding the question of
why did Mr. Amendola issue a permit; he thinks it was a mistake.
He said the officials of Mayfield Village do not always act as
formally as we should. Mayor Carmen said Mr. Amendola did what
he felt was right; it was a mistake. As soon as learned of the
mistake, we rectified it. We voided the building permit. Mayor
Carmen said when we talk about vested rights, we are talking
about legal vested rights, which Mr. Feneli was referring to.
Ervin Tomas, 6712 Hickory_Hill_Drive, asked Mayor Carmen if he
was "over" the A.R.B.
Mr. Tomas asked why they were not here tonight.
Mayor Carmen said the A.R.B. are appointed by him.
?
a
