76
Special Council Meeting
5/7/90
Page 2
Mrs. Martin interjected that she had received a call from a contractor who was questioning poles
for the lights. Since she did not have a copy of the specs, she advised them to submit a bid to
include the poles and one without. .That was the only problem brought to her attention.
Mr. Pietrafese quesrioned who drew up the specifications.
Mr. Amendola stated there were two sources - C.E.I. and General Electric. He didn't see how it
could be determined that no poles would be required as the poles were to be steel instead of wood
and painted.
Mr. Ramos stated he received a copy of the specs and incorporated the legal requirements as far as
insurance and bonds, etc. These were given to Donna with the legal ad.
Mr. Pietrafese quesrioned what happened to the list of names that Mark Fixler had given to receive
specs.
Mr. Amendola stated the five names were given to him by C.E.I. and were included with the
information to be prepared.
Mrs. Martin interjected that she had called C.E.I. for the names again and called the three they gave
her. A message was left one one's answering service and one out of the two she had received said
they were too busy to bid the job. It has been in the newspaper.
Mr. Pietrafese questioned if the labor bid could be accepted.
Mrs. Mills stated that it would have to be a combined bid.
Discussion was held regarding the preparation of specifications.
Mr. Ramos referenced the legal ad that was placed in the newspaper and it did not include
installation. Graybar is only a supplier and could not bid the labor. The bid would have to be
rejected and authorizarion given to readvertise.
Mr. Basile, seconded by Mr. Flynn, made the motion to reject the bid of Graybar Electric
Company and authorize the Clerk of Council to readvertise.
Specifications to be checked to clarify that labor is to be included and a letter of submittal to be
written by Mr. Ramos.
Roll Call: AYES: Mr. Basile, Mrs. Cinco, Mr. Ferrante, Mr. Flynn, Mrs. Mills, and
Mr. Rinker
NAYS: None
ABSTAIN: Mr. Pietrafese
Bid rejected and authorization given.
