08
Regular Council Meeting
5/21/90
Page 10
First Readiniz of Resolution No. 90-27, entitled; "A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING TBE
FILING OF AN APPLICATTON WITH TBE OHIO DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL
RESOURCES FOR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE UNDER'THE LAND AND WATER
CONSERVATION FUND ACT FOR TfE GOLF COURSE ACQUISITION AND DECLARING
AN EMERGENCY." Introduced by Mayor Carmen and Council as a Whole.
Mrs. Mills asked Mr. Patrick to explain the reason for this legislation
Mr. Patrick said the golf course comes under the area of parks and recreation. According to the
Federal Government, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources has the responsibility of
administering federal funds through state office applications. They must receive the application by
July lst. We must have an application on file by that date just to begin the application procedure;
we can always cancel the process if necessary. By having an application on file we would be in
line to receive potential Federal funding.
Mr. Pietrafese asked if the dollar amount was such that it would be worth it.
Mr. Patrick said that there are 75 applicants, and 10 awardees for $600,000 federal dollars through
the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. There is some potential of receiving monies; at least
we could file an applicarion.
Mayor Carmen said there is not enough dollars in the fund to buy the golf course but if they want
to contribute dollars, it is worth filing an application.
Mrs. Mills said that if it does not come to pass that it could be withdrawn.
Mr. Ferrante, seconded by Mr. Pietrafese, made a motion to suspend the rules of Council requiring
a resolurion to be read on three separate occasions.
ROLL CALL: AYES: All
NAYS: None Morion Carried
Rules Suspended _
Mrs. Cinco, seconded by Mr. Rinker, made a motion to adopt Resolution No. 90-27.
ROLL CALL: AYES: All
NAYS: None Morion Carried
Resolution Adopted
First Readina of Resolurion No. 90-28, entitled; "A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING TBE
MAYOR AND PRESIDENT OF COUNCIL TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH
COMMUNIT'Y MUTUAL AND COMMUNTTY LIFE FOR HEALTH AND TERM LIFE
INSURANCE, RESPECTIVELY, FOR EMPLOYEES OF MAYFIELD VILLAGE, OHIO, FOR
TBE PERIOD COMMENCING NNE 1, 1990 AND TERMINATING FEBRUARY 29, 1991
AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY."
