95
MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF COUNCIL
Mayfield Village
? June 4, 1990
The Council of Mayfield Village met in Special Session on Monday, June 4, 1990, at eight o'clock
p.m. (8 p.m.) in the Council Chambers at the Village Hall. Council President Patsy Mills
presided.
The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag was given.
Roll Call: Present: Mr. Basile, Mrs. Cinco, Mr. Ferrante, Mr. Flynn, Mrs. Mills, Mr. Pietrafese,
and Mr. Rinker
Also Present Were: Mayor Carmen, Mr. Amendola, Mr. Hovancsek, Chief Mohr (8:13 p.m.)
Mr. Patrick, Mr. Ramos, and Miss Heath
Mrs. Mills said that Chief Stevens is ill. This special meering was called to consider the bids
received for the lighring at Wiley Park.
Mr. Pietrafese said he thinks one problem with the specificarions is that we asked for prevailing
wages.
Mark Fixler (in the audience) said that when they put prevailing wages--he thought they wanted it
non-union which means they must charge union wage. Chandler Electric is a non-union company.
They would be happy to do the work as a non-union company but their price is based on prevailing
wages.
Chief Mohr arrived at this time (8:13 p.m.).
Mr. Pietrafese said there seems to be some discrepancy because of the bid that came in for just
parts.
Mr. Rinker said he does not know if this is the summer to do it. Mr. Rinker said they had asked
for a suggestion from Gus Amendola regarding what it would take after Village Days to get the
fields in playing condition as far as the bottom line repair work so that people could play now. He
said he must agree that he wants the fields in shape which also means putring in the proper
drainage (which will be $20-25,000 just for that). Mr. Rinker said that to do the lighting and
drainage would be in the area of $50,000. It seems like a lot to put into it when we are still
uncertain what to do with the area over the long run. He said we are trying to rush but one-third of
the season will probably be gone anyway.
Mrs. Mills opened the bids. Artistic, Inc. bid $36,800, Tom Agresta: $33,177.
Mr. Ferrante said he thinks we need to wait to find out what direcrion we are going on the
municipal center and whether or not it is going to be located in the area of the Wiley fields.
Mr. Pietrafese said we must address the golf course.
Mr. Ferrante said we are talking about getting the fields in playing condirion but it is too late to put
in sod this year.
