118
Regular Council Meeting ,
7/16/90
Page 3
Mrs. Mills read a portion of the 1989 Council minutes where Mayor Carmen and Chief Mohr had
deternuned at that time, with the sancrion of Council, that the lieutenants should be in place by this
time. She said she thought a litde miscommunication occurred and they now realize the thinking
was to appoint a lieutenant per shift (or a total of 3.)
Chief Mohr said that the position of lieutenant in the Fire Department is the equivalent of a sergeant
in the Police Department.
Mr. Pietrafese that the Citizen's Advisory Boazd would like to know if a stop sign could be
installed on the bicycle path in front of the intersecrions. He explained that cyclists are not stopping
and a potenrially dangerous situation exists.
Chief Stevens said that the information that reached him at the Safety and Service meeting was just
Wildwood. He said the pavement at Wildwood intersection is marked with "Stop" and that it
would be inappropriate to post a stop sign.
Mr. Pietrafese said other items discussed by the Citizen's Advisory Committee were: Fisher's
Tavern and the Christmas lights on the building and bushes, resident's responsibility for cleaning
drains and swales, the need for painting at the Village Hall and Fire Department, and the Don Ray
building for the municipal center. Their next meeting will be held August 27.
Commission on Ap-ing - Mrs. Mills said they have held several picnics in the pazk and are playing
bocce on schedule.
Finance - Mr. Flynn said the committee met this evening. They discussed Ordinance 90-32;
everything is in order and they would like to compliment the Mayor and Finance Director. He said
that the Village decided to keep the old squad as a back-up/auxiliary vehicle so they recommend
approval of Resolution 90-48 to pay the additional $5,000 out of pocket. The Committee reviewed
the bond notes memo from the Finance Director and recommend approval of the purchase of a tow
motor for the Service Department. Mr. Flynn asked why Resolution No. 90-30 was needed.
Mr. Hovancsek said they did not field measure the intersections until the contract was completed.
Mr. Flynn asked if they could get it next time.
Mr. Hovancsek said yes.
Mr. Flynn said the Finance Committee also discussed the Burgess & Niple proposal for Upper 40
in the amount of $9,100. He said the funds are there; it is up to Council. If they decide to move
ahead, they could pass the ordinance in tide this evening. They recommend holding or possibly
eabling Ordinance 90-24. He said a tax budget hearing was held this evening and there were no
comments.
Hillcrest Council of Councils - Mr. Ferrante said there is a meeting scheduled on July 21 at
I.anderhaven.
Mrs. Mills said the meeting will be about cable television.
Historical Societv - Mrs. Mills said the quilters are srill quilting.
