They discussed the Village
Trails subdivision which will be put in east of Hanover Woods. They will discuss it further at
their workshop meeting this Thursday.
Recreation - Mr. Pietrafese said the Board met 7une 20. They talked about how much the softball
program is under duress. He thanked Chief Mohr for watering the fields. There are no older girls
teams due to lack of interest. Money was refunded to those who signed up. He said that 44
children signed up for the summer playground program. Elliot Ross is working on the 5-mile run
and the Board is looking into a baseball cazd show for the fall. Mr. Pietrafese said that Mark Fixler
brought up the possibly of having a weekly camp for children ages 5-12 next year.
Safetv and Service - Mrs. Cinco said the Committee met July 2. They_recommend_the_:appointment_
of 2 patrolmen, passage of the legislation regazding the additional expenciiture of $5,000 to
Horton, the purchase of 2 snow plows, a tow motor, a hydraulic leaf vacuum, and repairs to the
Village Hall driveway (which have been completed).
OLD BUSINESS:
Safety Awazd(s) (Given under Mayor's comments)
Waste Management - to answer quesrions regazding Recycling P?rog Lam - Mr. Bill Skidmore and
Mr. Chris Steinich from Waste Management were present.
Mr. Skidmore expressed thanks to Gus Amendola and Donna Heath for their assistance. He said
they have an operational request for Council's consideration--they would like to begin pick-up of
recyclables at 6:30 a.m. (one-half hour earlier than the rubbish pick-up begins.)
Mayor Carmen said he is sorry but they must hold off until 7 a.m. He explained that some people
sleep in and it is impossible to throw recyclables into the truck quietly. He feels the Village must
stand by its ordinance because we would not allow another contractor to begin at 6:30 a.m.
Mrs. Mills agreed with Mayor Carmen's rationale.
Mr. Basile said that he has received several complaints from people who did not receive
notification about the change in pick-up days.
Mr. Skidmore apologized and said they tried to include notificarion in the bins of everyone whose
day was changed.
Mr. Pietrafese said that he had been hearing rumors that some recyclable materials aze not being
recycled, that they are just being dumped.
