He said he feels the previous company who bid, the company that has the
highest bid, is the best on the basis that they have more experience.
Mr. Diemert said there is no question that Council can give the contract to the higher bidder; they
have to give the contract to the lowest and best bidder, so they can go higher to get to the best
qualified bidder. The specificarions appeaz to be fine, and they can go on the Service Director's
experience. They are legitimate concerns; he had him write a letter to Council. Mr. Diemert said it
is up to Council--if they want, they can reject the lowest bid and accept the higher one.
Mr. Ferrante, seconded by Mr.. Busa, made a motion to accept the bid from Pave Ohio in the
amount of $13,125.00 for the paving stone sidewalk around the gazebo and to reject all other bids
received.
Mr. Fixler said he was sure the people who bid felt they could do the dvork or they wouldn't have
submitted a bid.
ROLL CALL: AYES: All
NAYS : Mr. Fixler
Morion Carried
Contract to be awarded to Pave Ohio, all other bids to be rejected.
Conf'lrmarion of 1VIa, orppointments:
Community Relations Coordinator - Mr. Busa, seconded by Mr. Flynn, made motion to conf'um
the Mayor's appointment of George Phillips as the Community Relarions Coordinator effective
June 18.
