12S <br />Regular Council Meeting <br />7/20/92 <br />Page Seven . <br />First Reading of Ordinance No. 92-24, entided; "An emergency ozdinance authorizing an <br />agreement with Industrial Advisors Bureau, Itic. for Workers' Compensation Service." <br />Introduced by Mayor Pietrafese and Council as a Whole. <br />Mr. Ferrante, seconded by Mr. F1ynn, made a morion to suspend the rules of Council requiring an <br />ordinance to be read on three separate occasions. <br />ROLL CALL: AYES: All <br />NAYS: None Motion Carried <br />Rules Suspended <br />Mr. Ferrante, seconded by Mr. Fixler, made a motion to enact Ordinance No. 92-24. <br />Mr. Diemert said he noriced the Finance Department had a number of workers' compensation <br />matters and no one had kept tabs on it. He looked at ways to have the Law Director and Finance <br />Department follow up on them but the Law Director's cost would not warrant this. And since the <br />Finance Department is not equipped with staffing, he located an outside source which has been <br />used successfully in other communities for many yeazs. Because of the high intensity of claims, <br />they made determination we could at least save their fee. Therefore, Mr. Diemert said he <br />recommends their use for a year to coordinate and organize claims, and make sure all claims are <br />legirimate.
