ATTACHED TO MINUTES OF 11/2./92
AS A PER,MANENT RECORD.

MAYFIELD VILLAGE
6621 Wilson Mills Road Mayfield Village, Ohio 44143
ADMINISTRATION
(216) 461-2210
BLASEPIETRAFESE November 5, 1992
Mayor
Members of Council
Village of Mayfield
6621 Wilson Mills Road
Mayfield Village, Ohio 44143
Dear Members of Council:
Pursuant to the authority vested in me by the Charter of the
Village of Mayfield, I am hereby and herein vetoing the Council action
of November 2, 1992, whereby the Council majority voted to disallow the
Mayor's office to use a Village motor vehicle which has recently been
retired from active service in the Police Department.
Pursuant to the Charter of our Village, the Mayor's office is
vested with the executive authority to supervise and direct all
departments, as well as Village facilities and equipment. To allow
Council to interfere in this discretion clearly vested in the Mayor,
would be to set a precedent totally contrary to the wishes of our
citizens as stated in the Village Charter. Should the Council majority
wish to cripple the operations of the administration, you might very
well pass a motion to prohibit the Mayor's use of a Village office,
Village phones, Council chambers, or any other such items, thereby
making it impossible for him to perform the duties and functions for
which he is elected.
As in the past, I have continually attempted to keep Council
informed of administrative decisions and activities, and have done
everything within my power to assist Council in performing its duties.
I would only ask that Council majority extend the same consideration to
me.
Sincerely,
.
Blase Pietrafese
Mayor
1
