~. <br />D <br />i <br />MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF COUNCIL <br />MAYFIELD VILLAGE <br />.January 31, 1980 <br />- The Council of the Village of Mayfield met in special session on <br />Thursday, January 31, 1980 at 7:10 P.M. in the Village Hall. <br />Council President, Alan Bennett presided. <br />Roll Call: Present: Messrs., Bennett, Carmen, Flynn, Spellman <br />and Mrs. Hanus <br />Absent: Mr. Boger and Miss Trask <br />:J <br />1 <br />Mr. Bennett stated that the purpose of the meeting was to consider <br />action to be taken on the existing Wilson Mills Sewer break problems <br />and any other matter that may come before Council. <br />Mr. Bennett commented that Ordinance 80-2, which had been given <br />First Reading on January 21st, needed a few items clarified. All <br />questions had been answered to Council's satisfaction.. <br />Ordinance 80-2, entitled: "AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE <br />MAYOR AND DIRECTOR OF FINANCE TO ENTER A CONTRACT FOR HOSPITALIZATION <br />]~i.®R EMPLOYEES OD THE VILLAGE WITH THE PRUDENTIAL INSURANCE COMPANY." <br />Introduced by Mayor and Council as a Whole <br />Mr. Flynn, seconded by Mr. Carmen, made a motion to suspend the rules <br />of law requiring an ordinance to be read on three separate occasions. <br />Roll Call: AYES: All <br />NAYS: None <br />Motion Carried <br />Rules Suspended <br />Mr. Flynn, seconded by Mrs. Hanus, made a motion to pass Ordinance <br />80-2. <br />Mr. Bennett _qu'estion:ed :i.f ~.. all options offered were in writing? <br />Mayor Beebe explained that all the options offered were part of <br />"Exhibit A" referred to in the ordinance. A representative from <br />Prudential will be speaking to the employees on an individual basis <br />re their needs. The debate regarding the 13 week disability cover- <br />age was settled with emphasis on any misuse, this part would be void. <br />This policy would be effective in March, 1980 and Mr. Avery stated <br />that Blue Cross should be sent a letter cancelling their policy. <br />Blue Cross will be approaching the employees with offers to take out <br />private policies. <br />Mayor Beebe thanked those that helped in getting this new and ade- <br />quate coverage. <br />Mr. Flynn commended Prudential for their aid in satisfying the Vil- <br />
