<br />Mayor Beebe stated the Police Depar.tment force is the same as it <br />was seven years_ago, with 13 patrolmen,.including Sergeants and <br />the Chief of Police. He stated that 24-hour dispatching has been' <br />added.. . .. .. , . <br />Mr. Spellman stated, as a member of the Finance Committee, he knows <br />this topic is planned to be discussed at the next Finance Meeting. <br />Mr. Avery stated that people should understand that the one,half <br />percent increase did not amount to a 50/ increase in income as <br />anticipated.. CONSIDERATION OF MINUTE5 <br /> <br />Special Meetin q of.Council - July 13, 1981 - Mr. Spellman stated <br />that on page 6 7 .after the motions were made to accept Mr. Newman <br />as a member of the Planning and Zoning Commissio n, a roll of all <br />"AYES'! should be listed. Gouncil agreed_.to this change. , . <br />Mr..Flynn'stat ed.that there being no-'-objections,- the minutes stand <br />a?s corrected. <br />MAYOR'S COMMENTS <br />Mayor Beebe stated that Mr. A1 Scaccia, Chairman of the Recreation <br />and Village Days Committees, was present and had .something to show <br />to Council. Mr. Scaccia showed Council the award trophy the_Recreation Committee <br />had, received for the float the.y entered .in May.field. He.ights 'Home Days <br />Parade. He stated this was the first time the float was entered atid <br />that it took the award as best float. He stated the float will be <br />in"our Village Days Parade. Mayor Beebe stated the float displayed all that Recreation does <br />throughout the year. ? <br />Mr. Scaccia stated the'group put quite a bit of effort into the float. He extended an invitation ta all of Council to participate <br />in Village Days. Mayor "Beebe" stated,Council could-'participate in 'tYie Par.ade. and <br />stated a Mr. Herb Phillips has several_convertibles he will let - <br />someone use. Mayor Beebe stated if anyone was interested in <br />using one of those convertibles they should let him know and he <br />will get-in touch with Mr. Phil:lips. . : <br />Mr. Spellman questioned who will.keep the trophy for the float. <br />Mr. Scaccia stated he thought it should be placed in a display case <br />inside the Community Room (when it is finished). Council agreed <br />with his suggestion.
