Regular Council 1Vleeting 1-27-97 <br />Page 11 <br />Mr. Buckholtz, seconded by Dr. Parker, made a motion to suspend the rules of Council requiring <br />an ordinance to be read on three separate occasions. <br />Roll Call: AYES: All <br />NAYS: None <br />Motion Canied <br />Rules Suspended <br />Mr. Buckholtz, seconded by ].VIr. Busa, made a motion to enact Ordinance No. 97-05. <br />Council President Fixler asked Mr. Dasher to explain the proposal for the audience. <br />Mr. Vitale said the Recreation Board reviewed the proposal from Jim Dasher and voted to move <br />forward with it. They took Bill Buckholtz's recommendation to get the proposal in front of <br />Council. He asked if there were any questions. <br />Council President Fixler asked for a brief synopsis of the camp. <br />Jim Dasher introduced himself and 7anet Coletta. Mr. Dasher said Janet worked with him at a <br />previous camp for 7 years and was the Director of the Gates 1Vlills camp last year. 7anet also has <br />Ms. Coletta said the Drama Camp will be for 60 children from grades 3-7. They will perform a <br />musical production on the last day of ?camp. During the day, other than rehearsing, they will <br />play games and activities to cover aspects of theater like puppet theater, story-telling, mime, <br />improvisation, make-up and other aspects. <br />Mr. Dasher said the Drama Camp will consist of one Director and an Assistant Director. Mr. <br />Dasher said he will be the Director of the Sports Camp. The Drama Camp and the Sports Camp <br />will run 5 days a week for 5 weeks--24 days. (no camp on July 4?'.) 1VIr. Dasher said there will <br />been the Director of Straw I?at in Gaxes Mills. Janet just graduated from Baldwin Wallace with <br />a teaching degree. Janet will be the Director of May-Vill Camp and will also be the Director of <br />Junior and Senior Straw Hat in Gates Mills. Mr. Dasher said they are proposing calling the <br />camp: May-Vill. They have developed a lot of songs and chants and they need an acronym- <br />they like the acronym MVC so 1?Iay-Vill pretty much says it. They are open to suggestions on <br />how to spell it. Mr. Dasher said there will be two different camps-sports and drama camps. <br />They would like to hold it at the Middle School because the cafeteria is adjacent to the gym and <br />fields. Mr. Dasher said he will run the sports camp. There will be 4 groups of 25 kids and he <br />will teach 8 sports. There will be two sports stations a week. Some of the sports include <br />kayaking, tennis, baseball, basketball and hockey. Another water sports like water polo may be <br />included. Transportation will be necessary. The kids will do sports for 4 days per week. On the <br />5`hday, the kids will get together with the kids from the Drama Camp for a ltoyal Holiday for a <br />theme day.
