Regular Council Meeting <br />1-27-97 <br />Page 12 <br />also be a Junior Day Camp. He will also be the Director of the Junior Camp. It will run 6 <br />weeks, 3 days a week, 4 hours a da.y. They want to have a varying salary schedule that gives <br />younger counselors about $3-4.00/hour and the high school/college level counselors will make <br />$5.00-5.50. The most a counselor will make will be $1,000.00. <br />Mr. Vitale said if we decide to proceed with this, we will work with Mr. Brett to prepare a roster <br />outlining salaries and positions. The draft Council has in front of them is 99% cornplete. <br />Council President Fixler said discussions began a few years ago about having a more meaningful <br />day camp program in the Village. He thinks this is an excellent opporlunity for us to realize a <br />program we all have wanted. , <br />Dr. Parker asked if the openings will be made available to our residents first. <br />Mr. Dasher said the programs will be offered to our residents first until April 15. After that <br />date, non-residents may sign up. We will keep a waiting list for non-residents. We anticipate <br />out of 160 campers that 100 will be residents. (This is not including junior camp.) <br />Mr. Vitale said there were 100 junior campers Iast year. They are forecasting approximately 60 <br />junior campers this year, starting at age 4. The program will still be held at Center School. The <br />program will be restructured. They anticipate getting last year's 7unior Camp Director to work <br />with Jim. <br />Mayor Rinker said it will be a quality program. Mr. Dasher is the Athletic Director in the school <br />system. <br />Mr. Buckholtz said he is impressed with the composition sheet he received about camp policies <br />and procedures. He thanked Mr. Brett and Mr. Dasher for coming up with the legnslation. <br />Mr. Diemert said they have not designated how many of each position there will be. That should <br />be clarified. <br />Council President Fixler suggested Council pass the legislation in title so the necessary <br />adjustments can be made. All amounts included in the legislation should be not to exceed <br />amounts. <br />Mr. Busa, seconded by Mr. Buckholtz, made a motion to table Ordinance No. 97-05. <br />Roll Call: AYES: All <br />NAYS: None <br />Motion Carried <br />Ordinance Tabled <br /> <br />11 <br />
