Car}in: said they were directed to issue a request to be on tlzis agenda to have this issue heard;
they were not directed to appeal it.
Council President Fixler said if they are asking us to consider a 50% reduction plan, his feeling is
you would have to go back again and came up with a plan, present it to Planning and Zoning. If
that plan is denied (and the decision is appealed) Counci.t'vvould again look at it. He does not
believe Council should consider an automatic reduetion this evening without going through the
actual Planning & Zaning Comnussion. Ifthey are asking Council-to react an the decision
Planning and Zoning made the first time, that Cauncfl coutd do. He does not think they can
consid.er a reduction without it going through the system.
Ms, Carlin requested Council's reaction at this time to the plan as proposed.
Council President Fixler ,said conceptually, Councii could dQ that.
Mr. Buckholtz asked if the diagram in the plans were umbrella tables. He asked what was in the
square grid. He asked the Chiefs to cnnnnent on the safety issue. Would the traffic ballards
work?
Ms. Carlin said yes, they are umbrella tables. There is a eovering with two four-top tables.
Chief Stevens said the ballards cauId be very effective to stap a vehicie that might go that far aff
#he roadway. In his reeoUection, vve have nQt had such an ineident.
Mr. Ferrante said all it takes is one accident and ane persan to get injured or killed and _that is not
an ianpossible thing ta think o€-especialiy on a main thoraughfare. .
Mr. Busa asked if the portrayal shozvved the 50% reduction.
Ms. Carlin said no.
Dr. Parker said at its present sta.te, he vvauld not be in favor of it. He wouid defer #o Planning and
Zoning to see what they wouId say. Perhaps at a 50% reduction-...his ma.jor concern is safety.
Council Presiden# Fixler saitt he does not think they are ioaking for farmal action now.
Ms. Carlin said no.
-Council President Fixler said he believes most Council mernbers would hce to see it go back to
Planning and Zoning to talk abaut the niodifications first.
