NffNUTES OF A REGULAR MEETiNG OF COUNCIL
Mayfield Viliage
; September 15, 1997
The Council of Mayfield Village met iri regula.r session on Monda3t, September 15, 1997, at 8:00
p.m. in the Mayfield Viltage Senior Center/Community Room. Council President lulark Fixler
presided.
ROLL CAI,L: Present: 1VIr. Buckhvltz, Nlr. Busa, Nlrs. Cinco, Mr. Ferrante, Mr. Fixler,
W. Niarquardt and Dr. Parker
Absent: None
Also Present: Mayor Rinker, Mr. Brett, Mr. Cappello, Sgt. Dearden,
Mr. Diemert, Mr. Hovancsek, Mr. Metzung, Chief Mohr,
Mr. Samac, and M'iss Heath
OPEN PORTION
Judge Robert Grogan, said the word is around that the Village is in a dea.l with Progressive to sell
off the golf course. He would ask Council to please search their minds and conscience before
they vote. He does not think it should be sold offright away. Let it operate as a golf course for a
couple of years. Let Progressive ga to all the other big operators that own land there; there is
plenty of Iand there for Progressive to take--they don't need to take the golf course. If they do,
they had better not ask for rezoning. Also, regarding the reaoning matter did will be before the
voters this fall -many voters don't know anything about that closed section on I-lighland Road so
it probably won't pass. Enough is enough We don't have to pass property azound. That was
envisioned to be used as recreation, open space and a golf course. He would ask Council to keep
their word vtFhen they first got the option on the land. The people in the Village---especially those
in Aintree and Kenwood-would.not appreciate that happening. Let's not sell the one parcel that
belongs to the Village. The uifornlation he got at the Court today was tha.t it was going to
happen at the end of October.
Virginia Lawiey 6864 Hickory Hill Drive- said she is asking the same questions as Judge Grogan
is. That Council take into consideration the peoplE who live in that area. If you ga down
Ridgebury and look over to your right you can see Progressive. She does not want to come down
her-street and face any building hce that. We heard they were going to put up homes instead.
Their property is worth a lot of money; she does not want to see it go downhill. If Progressive
goes in, they wiIl have a hazd time selling. They heard from sources the golf course was going to
be Ieased for 5 years. They thought that possibly the people that live in the Village would get
some kind of a break because they live in the ViIlage which is neither here nor there but she does
not want to see big offices go up. There are piexrty on Alpha and Beta; we don't need them in our
area. '
