Regular Council Meefiing
September 15,1997
Page 2
Mrs. Lawley asked what the Village does about people who live in the Village who do not keep
up their property. She had read a long time ago in the Village paper that someone comes around
and inspects but she has never seen anything.
Council President F'ixler said the Village has a Building Commissioner,lVlr. Samac. He will cite
residents who have an untidy yard. He has seen many such citations given. If Mrs. Lawley has a
specific need, she should contact Mr. Samac.
Mrs. Lawley asked if someone takes down a tree and leaves the stump in their front yard what can
be done.
Mayor Rinker said we have general ordinances about yard upkeep -but there is a fine line where
we can impose such restrictions. We have found through experience if we get too overbearing we
create a lot of frustration between property owners. Different people have different taste. We try
to work with people and recognize that a certain amount of flexibility is necessary. He suggested
Mrs. Lawley talk to Mr. Samac about the situation. He said we try to be sensitive. We promote
neighborhood landscaping and try to get people actively involved.
1VIrs. Lawley said she loves the Village and would not want to see all the businesses going up
there.
Mr. James Dindia - Miss Heath said Mr. Dindia gave her a letter from his doctor to Mayor Rinker
and Council. (He had to leave the meeting.) Miss Heath read the letter from Vijay Mistry, M.D.
which explains that Mr. Dindia is under his care and that Mr. Dindia's neighbor keeps flood lights
on throughout the night which disturb IVIr. Dindia's sleep. The doctor states, "With his condition
it is important for him to rest in order for his condition to maintain a healthy, ma.nageable level."
A copy of the letter is attached to the minutes.
CONSIDERATION OF NIINUT'ES
The minutes were not considered.
COMWNTSFROIv1 MAXOR RINKER
1Vlayor Rinker asked that Nancy and Jim Plastine, Patricia and Richa.rd Negrelli, Patsy Mills and
Wanda Hejcl come forward. Mayor Rinker said the Mayfield Township Historical Society
deserves recognition for the work they have accomplished at the Historical House. He said we
are all proud of the work-keep on working. He presented them with a plaque of the article from
Cleveland Magazine. (A copy is attached to the minutes.)
COMMENTS FROM COUNCIL PRESIDENT FIXLER
