Regular Council Meeting Minutes 8-21-00 Page 2 Mr. Thomas reported the Fall Parks & Recreation Brochure will be mailed to all residents tomorrow. We were able to scale it down to 16 pages as requested. He is pleased with the format and the way it turned out. We have an electronic scoreboard at Wiley Park donated by Coca Cola. Thanks to the efforts of the Service Department and Building Commissioner Samac, it was used for Championship Softball. All the players really appreciate knowing the score. Mrs. Cinco said the brochure was excellent; she was impressed with the layout. Mrs. Roman said we used the new equipment for the mailing and will be using it next week for the Voice of the Village. STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS Activities Committee -Mrs. Roman said last week's concert was canceled because of the cold weather and rain. The same band will perform on the rain date, September 7t''. Our next event will be the Holiday Tree Lighting. Architectural Review Board - Mr. Samac said there has not been a meeting since our last Council meeting. Board of Appeals - Mr. Samac said the Board met August 15. Three cases were considered. (1) involved the variance for parking to allow a restaurant to occupy space across the street at the shopping plaza adjacent to CVS. The variance was based on the fact that he wanted to put 6 seats inside. The rest of his business would be carry out. That request was granted. (2) A request for a fence that was closer to the side property line than our code permits. The applicant made an adjustment on their request during the course of the meeting and the variance was granted to allow a 5' high chain link fence to extend 4' closer to the side yard than the code permits for a distance of about 23'. That variance was granted. (3) involved a side setback for a rear yard shed. The applicants were requesting the shed be allowed to be placed within 3' of the side yard. There was substantial yard space between the proposed shed and any adjacent property owners. That variance was also granted. Cemetery - A report is attached to the minutes. Citizen's Advisory Board -Mrs. Cinco said she spoke to Donna about scheduling a meeting for September. Commission on Aging - Mr. Ilacqua read the report from Mrs. Kalula for Mr. Busa.
