Regular Council Meeting 9-18-00 Page 15 Mr. Metzung said it is a lot more expensive. They had to go through a lot to explain it but they would have to back as far as Highland Road to do some of their switch work. Then they would have to put some poles along S.O.M. Center Road to put it underground. It would have been quite a bit more expensive. We would have just moved some of the poles to S.O.M. as opposed to the Parkview Drive area. Council President Marquardt questioned if they put poles on Village property with no easement to provide power and if this [legislation] is to provide the easement for what they have already put in. Mr. Metzung and Mayor Rinker said yes. Mayor Rinker said because they had a utility easement that we used for the bike path. Roll Call: AYES: Mr. Buckholtz, Mrs. Cinco, Mr. Ilacqua, Mr. Marquardt, Mrs. Mills, Dr. Parker NAYS: None ABSTAIN: Mr. Busa Motion Carried Ordinance Enacted OPEN PORTION - 3 minute limit imposed by Chair. Those who wish to speak must first state their name and address. This open portion is limited to discussion pertaining to the items under "New Business" only. Jim Farmer 6515 Derby Drive said he wants to express his dismay with the vote over the media strip. He is part of the S.O.M. Center Road Widening Committee; part of the 4-2 majority that voted in favor of the median strip as much as possible north of Highland Road to White Road. He is a little confused on some of the voting tonight. He does not understand on what is generally - considered to be a good thing and that they went into great depth and detail at the S.O.M. Widening meeting, why we are limiting it to such a small area (just the area north of St. Bartholomew's.) This poll and the talk about 14 residents, he knows they didn't poll my neighborhood or Bill Buckholtz's, Dr. Parker's or Joanne Cinco's neighborhoods--he does not know how many people and businesses were included in this [poll] and there were a few from Carmen's and this is dragging this thing. He does not understand it but thinks it is definitely an example of the tail wagging the dog. There are a lot more voters that live off of S.O.M. than live on S.O.M. and he thinks Council needs to take that into consideration. ANY OTHER MATTER THAT MAY COME BEFORE COUNCIL, There were no other matters before Council.
