Regular Council Meeting
9-18-00
Page 7
Mayor Rinker said it sounded like you were entertaining a vote on Item #1 and then you were going
to go to #2 and #3.
Council President Marquardt said that is correct.
Mayor Rinker said he thought there was only one recommendation from the Committee.
Council President Marquardt said that is fine but he has 3 options here and no one making a motion
for #1 yet. He asked if anyone is going to make that motion.
There were no comments.

Council President Marquardt said #1 is not a popular option.
Council President Marquardt read Option #2:
2. S.O.M. Center Road Median as shown on drawing (no median between Metro Park
Drive & Hickory Hill Drive)
Council President Marquardt said this was as we had on the drawing as we discussed at the Caucus
session.
Council President Marquardt asked if there was a motion for Option #2.
Mr. Buckholtz said he will make that motion but he does not think it is worded very well.
Council President Marquardt said this will be a motion to approve the full median with breaks--this
is all the way from Highland Road to White Road with breaks somewhat as described on the
drawing we looked at last week to be modified with the Committee's approval as we work that out.
Mr. Buckholtz, seconded by Mrs. Mills, made a motion to approve the full median from Highland
Road to White Road with breaks as described on the drawing Council looked at last week to be
modified with the Committee's approval.
Council President Marquardt asked if there was any discussion.
Mr. Buckholtz said as a member of the S.O.M. There are a lot of strong opinions one way or another and it was difficult. You
can't say that we didn't look at all the information very carefully. He came up with a very good feel
for what's going on in that neighborhood. One block wants the median, the other block doesn't and
the third block does. Not everyone, but a good number of people want the cut-through to their
driveway. We drew something that reflects that. Mr. Buckholtz said he is not crazy about the way
the drawing came out. It has been stated by URS Crreiner and a number of other people that we are
not stuck with that picture. He does not know what will come down the road when it comes time--if
