Regular Council Meeting
2-18-08
Page 8
additional expenditure on the part of the Village as a result of the change in contractors is
approximately $1,800.00 more.) (Straw poll taken 2/4/08).
Council President Buckholtz stated this is the contract that is going to replace the one with
Reed's.
Mayor Rinker stated this is the flipside of the coin. Mayor Rinker appreciates the fact that
Council considered this as it has. Residents should understand that we are basically paying a
little bit more money because that is frankly the rate that was negotiated by A&G. Given the
circumstance, everyone recognizes this is probably the best way to go. The intention is to make
sure that we maintain the service. We are absorbing that. We will make sure that next year we
keep on top of everything. Hopefully we won't have to do this again. This was an unusual
event.
Council President Buckholtz asked if there were any other questions or comments.
Roll Call: AYES: All
NAYS: None Motion Carried
Bid Accepted
Expenditure Authorized
Motion to authorize expenditure in the amount of $6,164.13 to H. David Howe for
architectua-al services rendered during November and December 2007 relative to the
redesign of the scorers' building.
Mrs. Mills, seconded by Mrs. Cinco, made a motion to authorize expenditure in the amount of
$6,164.13 to H. David Howe for architectural services rendered during November and December
2007 relative to the redesign of the scorers' building.
Council President Buclcholtz asked if there was any discussion.
Mrs. Mills stated that as discussed in Finance, as department heads enter into these types of
designing of new structures in the Village, Safety and Service and Finance would like to be
notified that this project is on board so that we know what is happening.
Mayor Rinker stated that Bill Thomas is not here and the request is more than reasonable,
however, Mayor Rinker's recollection is that this item has come up periodically and has been in
front of the Rec Board pretty extensively over the past two years. The Rec Board has dealt with
it. It should be in their Minutes. Those reports would include some of it. We probably should go
back in and retrace our steps and figure out why the lack of communication may have existed
and how we can improve it. It is sometimes easy for people on boards and commissions to go
ahead and do something and not think through the fact that they are looking at an expenditure.
Mayor Rinker suspects there is some of that that happened here. He will follow up on his end.
